Kp Sharma became prime minister again

After the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli few days ago due to less vote of favor, the President Vidya Bhandari had give the time till Thursday 9 pm to come up with majority to form new government but the opposition party Nepali congress and maoist party were not able to come close to the majority. Now the senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuwa and Pushpa kamal dahal were not able to come up with the majority and thus not got chance to form government, thus Kp sharma oli has been invited to form new government this evening after he got dispute over with Madhab kumar Nepal .

Prime minister received only 93 votes in favor of a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives. A proposal that the prime minister has confidence in himself would require a majority of the current 271 members, or 136 votes.

A total of 232 lawmakers participated in the House of Representatives polls on Monday. Of them, 15 MPs remained neutral. UML’s Madhav Nepal MP was absent. Similarly, RPP MP Rajendra Lingden was also absent.

The Speaker informed that 15 neutral votes were cast. UML’s Jhala Nath Khanal-Madhav Kumar Nepal group of 27 MPs are absent.

As there are four vacancies in the 275-member House of Representatives, there are currently 271 members. According to this arithmetic, the government needs the support of 136 MPs. At present, the UML has 121 members in the parliament, the Congress 61, the UCPN (Maoist) 48 and the JSP 34 (2 suspended). Three are in independent status.

Speaker Agni Sapkota will inform President Vidya Bhandari that Prime Minister Oli has not received a vote of confidence. Oli will now have to resign after receiving no vote of confidence from parliament. By appointing him as the caretaker Prime Minister, the President will call on the parties to form a majority government from within the parliament. The Congress, the Maoists and the Janata Samajwadi Party have joined hands to form an alternative government. He is preparing to go to the President today with the basis of majority.

With Oli’s resignation, the tug-of-war to form a new government has begun. The Congress is preparing to submit a demand to the President, claiming that the majority is in favor of an alliance with itself. On the other hand, the leaders of the opposition have also expressed fears that KP Oli will dissolve the parliament again or claim the government as the largest party.

Replying to a question raised in the parliament before the vote, Prime Minister Oli said that the parliament would not be dissolved if he was given a vote of confidence. This has also raised more suspicions among the opposition.
