Head of ‘World’s largest family’ Zion Chana from Mizoram Dies at 76

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga said the state bid farewell to Ziona Chana, believed to head the world’s largest family with 38 wives and 89 children.

Gianna Chana, head of the world’s largest family, died Monday in the village of Bakhtawang, near Mizoram capital Aizawl. Mizoram Chief Minister Joramthanga tweeted about the death of 76-year-old Giona Chana. Chief Minister Joramthanga said Bakhtawang village in Mizoram was a tourist attraction due to the large family of Gianna Chana.

Raising a family of four or five members is also very challenging due to the high cost. But Giona Chana lived in a large 100-room house in Bakhtawang village with 38 wives, 89 sons and daughters, 14 daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren.

Giona Chana’s profession was carpentry. The women of this large family farm and help run the house. Chana’s eldest wife distributes the work to all the members of the household and others do the work assigned to her.

Rations that last for two months in an ordinary family can be done in one day in this family. More than 45 kg of rice, 40 chickens, 60 kg of vegetables, 22 kg of pulses and dozens of eggs are used as vegetables in a day. In addition, the family eats about 20 pounds [20 kg] of fruit a day.

It was also difficult to know the names of the world’s largest family members, their birthdays, and their other activities. In this regard, Chana’s eldest son Nunparliana says that it is not difficult to remember the names of all the family members. People remember the names of many of their friends, we remember the names of our siblings and we remember the names of ourselves and our children in the same way. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either.

This family is also very dominant in politics. Because of the large number of votes in the same family, all the leaders of the region and the people of the political parties attach great importance to this family.
