Three persons, including a self-proclaimed engineer Jwala Sangraula, have been arrested on charge of beating a woman at the police office.
According to Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Ashok Singh, Sharmila Waiba and Himal Upadhyaya have been arrested along with Jwala. According to the police, the victim was arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Khushbu Ghimire.
Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Ashok Singh informed that they have been arrested for misconduct. Now they are kept in Teku. Police called the three for questioning and detained them.
Khusbu was attacked by Jwala’s group in the custody of Gaushala Police Circle on June 30. Earlier, Sangraula’s group had threatened the police inside the police office.
It is alleged that Sangraula, who calls himself an engineer, went to the Traffic Police Circle, Maharajgunj and assaulted Assistant Inspector (ASI) Manikant Jha at the police office. The video of him abusing the police also went viral on social media.
She had threatened to take off her police uniform. The team that reached the police office with him had threatened to transfer Assistant Inspector (ASI) Manikant Jha to Madhes and force him to do the same.
