Kathmandu Metropolitan City has made public the policy and program for the coming Fiscal Year 2079/080.On Sunday, Mayor Balen (Balendra) Sah unveiled the policy and program for the coming year through the 11th session of the Municipal Council.
During the meeting, Mayor Shah announced plans to develop the cultural city of Kathmandu as a model city.
He said that the economic, social, cultural reform and development of the entire metropolis would be made green while maintaining ecological balance.
Mayor Shah, who was fortunate to bring the budget for the coming fiscal year within a month and a half after winning the mayor’s post from Swatantra, has also announced to develop the city as a hub of international filmmaking by declaring Kathmandu Metropolitan City a fully literate city through policies and programs.
Similarly, keeping in view the growing traffic and parking problem in Kathmandu, he has put forward programs ranging from feasibility study to constructing an underground parking lot on the vacant land near the open stage at Kathmandu 11 to brand the local Newari beverage (liquor) internationally.

Necessary arrangements will be made to insure the health of the taxpayers who have paid taxes in the metropolis. A maximum of 50 percent subsidy of insurance fee will be provided. One School One Nurse and School Social Worker program will be expanded as required.
Within a year, digital profiles of roads, sewers, drinking water pipelines, street lights, telephones and other physical infrastructures in the metropolitan area will be prepared and integrated details will be collected. The cultural profile of the Kathmandu metropolis will be made by including the main introductory details of the festivals, fairs, worship, traditional lifestyle and other cultural heritages celebrated within the metropolitan area.
