Punya Gautam, a member of the CPN-Unified Socialists, has left the Unified Socialists and joined the UML. Gautam entered the UML today carrying a flag from UML Chairman KP Oli. Gautam even bowed at Oli’s feet at the entrance ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, he termed the ruling coalition as a sinful party alliance. He expressed his gratitude to Oli in the assembly and recited a poem titled ‘To end the black night of sinful party alliance’.
Gautam was introduced by UML Chairman KP Oli at an election rally held at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu on Tuesday. Oli handed over the UML flag to Gautam while Gautam bowed at Oli’s feet. After joining the UML, Gautam also addressed the election rally. He further added that Oli’s place in today’s world is similar to that of Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. He also said that Oli was a politician.

Gautam, who has been involved in politics from boyhood, relocated to Kathmandu and increased his political involvement. He began the Maoist People’s War after the party split in 2051 BS. He eventually joined the UML after becoming a revolutionary communist and becoming the key leader of Mal. Gautam, who believes that we are Nepalis above communists, regardless of their political allegiance, is interested in all subjects and has the will to learn. He even maintains that he is not a supporter of Gagan Thapa. “If the angel comes, I am willing to make any sacrifice for the nation and the people,” he adds. “I don’t believe I am less than Gagan Thapa.
