Rape Culture refers to a social climate in which rape is common and sexual violence against women is accepted and justified through the media and popular culture. Rape culture is maintained through using sexist rhetoric, objectifying women’s bodies, and glamorizing sexual assault, resulting in a society that disregards women’s rights and protection.

Every woman is affected by rape culture. The rape of one woman degrades, terrorizes, and restricts all women. Because of the prevalence of rape, most women and girls restrict their conduct. The majority of women and girls live in terror of being raped. Men, on the whole, do not. That is how rape works as a potent tool for keeping the whole female population in a submissive position to men.
