The 100-year-old set the record by working for 84 years

A 100-year-old Brazilian man has broken the Guinness World Record for working at the same firm for 84 years and nine days.

ReneauxView employee Walter Orthmann received the prize on January 6, according to the popular reference book firm.

ReneauxView, formerly known as Industrias Renaux S.A., hired Orthmann as a shipping assistant in January 1938.

Walter Orthmann began working as a shipping assistant at Industrias Renaux S.A. in Santa Catarina, Brazil, on January 17, 1938, when he was fifteen years old (now known as ReneauxView).

When it comes to studying new things, Walter has always been highly passionate. He was born in Brusque, a tiny town in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina with a substantial German community.\

Walter would walk barefoot to school to learn and then practice at home, rain or sun, mud or frost, motivated by his resolve. He was a talented student with an outstanding recall and keen attention to detail.

Due to financial difficulties at home, he began working to support his family. He went to the weaving mill with his mother to ask for a job, and he was hired due of his great command of the German language. Since then, he has worked for the same firm, ReneauxView.

Walter shown exceptional talents and a willingness to learn after landing his first job as a shipping assistant, constantly going above and beyond the call of duty.

He was promoted to a sales job shortly after. He thereafter rose to the position of Sales Manager.

The nicest thing about having a job, according to Walter, is that it provides you a feeling of purpose, dedication, and regularity.
