While looking back to the black day of Nepal, baishak 12, 2071 always comes in our mind. That day was so painful that while remembering that day we still get panic in our mind.
The Nepal earthquake which occurred at the month of April, 2015 also known by Gorkha earthquake which killed nearly about 9,000 people and nearly 22,000 get injured. It occurred at 11:56 Nepal Standard Time on 25 April 2015. It had occured with a magnitude of 7.8Mw or 8.1Ms and had a maximum Mercalli Intensity of VIII. Its came by making a epicenter east of Gorkha District at Barpak, Gorkha. Its hypocenter was at a depth of approximately 8.2 km or 5.1 mi. While looking back, It was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal. Before, the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake was also the one. During that disaster, many people in rural areas were working outdoors which hampered the loss of property and human lives in a large amount.
The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest killing 22. This makes 25 April 2015 the life threating day on the mountain in history and it also triggered another huge avalanche in the valley of Langtang . At that village 250 people were recorded missing.
Thousands of Nepalese were made homeless with whole villages flattened within many districts of the country. Centuries-old buildings were destroyed at World Heritage Sites of UNESCO in Kathmandu which includes some at the Changu Narayan Temple, the Boudhanath stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, the Patan Durbar Square, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and the Swayambhunath stupa. Geophysicists had warned for decades that Nepal was at risk to a deadly earthquake mainly because of its geology, architecture and urbanization. Dharahara, also known by Bhimsen Tower, which was a nine-storey and 61.88-metre-tall tower was destroyed during that earthquake. It was one of the architectures of Kathmandu valley recognized by UNESCO.
Continue temblor occurred throughout Nepal at the intervals of 15–20 minutes and one big shock reaching a magnitude of 6.7 on the date of 26 April at 12:54:08 NST. During that period, country also had a continued risk of landslides.
A major aftershock occurred on 12 May 2015 at 12:50 NST with a moment magnitude (Mw) of 7.3 and its epicenter was near the Chinese border between Mount Everest and the capital Kathmandu. Many were killed, many were left homeless and over 2,500 were injured.
The infrastructures, buildings, heritages, durbars, stupas, temples, hospitals, education sectors which was destroyed at that period are still on construction. Many friendly countries, international countries and non-governmental organizations are providing theirs help and efforts for the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructures. CEO of authority Sunil Gyawali provided the report about the completeness of 87% projects during this 6 year of long time and 13% works are still on the way. Reconstruction of Rani pokhari had completed and inauguration of it will be very soon by our president Bidhya Devi Bhandari. Inauguration of Dharahara was done by our Prime minister KP Oli last week.
4 kharab and 10 arab money had been come to Nepal from different neighborhood countries, other international countries and non-governmental organizations as a fund to delivere to the injured ones and for the reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructures. In which 66 arab was spend for the injured ones and for the other basic needs of the hampered ones, 49 arab was taken by Nepal Government that was came from Indian axiom Bank of India. And the remaining 2 kharba 84 arba was separated for the reconstruction purpose and 82 arab has been used till date and the reconstruction process is still going on.
